The Virginian (2 episodes, 1968-1969)
—The Price of Love (Season 7, Episode 18; Airdate: 2/12/69) … as Denny Todd
An orphan who lived with the Graingers in Texas 15 years earlier comes through Medicine Bow. He decides to stay and work for them and is very protective of the Graingers, but his years away from them have changed him—in a bad way.
Well, I have to state the obvious. The people in charge of producing “The Virginian”, obviously greatly admired and enjoyed Pete’s involvement with guest staring on their show. They must have. When they have Pete play in two different episodes, just a year apart from each other, where in the final scene of both episodes he gets killed, they had to have wanted him pretty badly. When you are willing to resurrect an actor to kill him all over again on the same show, you’ve got to like him a whole lot.
Thank goodness they did. So we can now enjoy him again, too. I think Pete had to have had a good laugh about that.
